Curriculum Vitae (0.03MB)
I am a licensed, clinical social worker. I have worked in community service for 26 years, in various modalities: inpatient, outpatient, substance abuse, and with issues of trauma. I have also been working for 22 years, full-time and part-time, in academia (Social Work Departments, undergraduate and graduate). I am particularly interested in research that promotes the empathy development, promotes the use of simulation in clinical practice, and adopts productive interventions in work with women's issues. I am publishing on empathy, and currently completing an article on shame. My teaching approach tends to utilize humanistic philosophy and learning: student-centered, gestalt, and teaching that is culturally-sensitive to multiple-intelligence. I am been a full-time assistant professor for 7 years and enjoy the opportunity for continuing professional growth and to mentor to students.
